1/3 of food turns into food waste globally therefore there needs to be reduction in the food wasted, both for the food supply and the environment. This project aims to target a variety of groups with no age. They have however made a training manual both for teachers and student to be used and recommend this can be taught both in social studies and cooking class in schools.They cover recyclable objects, clothing, food, and electrical appliances. They have a slideshow package about each subject that has useful educational information as well as practices for realization of their own consumption. Looking at the food section, it is divided between the slideshow and the pamphlet for teachers/students. In the pamphlet there is both an educational text and self-realization part where you look at your own household’s waste. This is done practically as well with a exercise in the pamphlet being:
Calculate the weight of all the food that is being thrown away in your house over a week.
Calculated that how much Co2 is being released in the air just from your household.
Check which kind of food is being thrown out
How you can prevent food waste
What other things then the food is being thrown out
Contemplate how the future looks like, do you think there will be more or less food waste in the future?
They also try to have the economical angle of how much food waste costs each family approximately with their waste and how much supermarkets throw out.
